Single father who hasn't been on a date in more time than I care to admit. Let's start with getting to know each other over tea.

[ Jefferson's caught off guard by the remark enough to actually let out a real laugh. Sure, there's a little hint of crazy in his voice, but it definitely beats the doom and gloom. He didn't realize just how badly he needed this, some actual humor in his life. ]

God. No, I don't even want to think about servicing her like--

[ He laughs again, shaking his head. Though, truth be told, Regina's a beautiful woman. Rotten to her core, but beautiful. It's really just his hatred of her that makes the thought so unpleasant. ]

Nothing quite so exciting as that. She just made everyone... boring. Mundane. Human. No more magic, no more happy endings. Everyone living the same day, over and over again, nothing changing. Except for-- [ He gestures to himself, then takes another drink. ]

I'd prefer a lobster fae to the evil queen.

That's awful! I can't even imagine a world where we're all human. [ He even shuddered for emphasis. Not that he was completely in love with his fellow fae or anything, but variety was the spice of life! ]

I mean, sure, Eudio's not the most exciting place, but at least there's magic. And definitely happy endings. [ He gave a wink before making a brief 'jerk off' motion with his hand. You know, that sort of happy ending. ]

What were you then? Before you were human.

Oh, I'm human. Always have been. But not everyone was. The town shrink used to be a cricket. [ JIMINY CRICKET, actually. ] I was just... I used to be a portal jumper. Traveled to different magical worlds, worlds others couldn't get to, and brought back treasures and trinkets-- for a price. [ And he made sooo many enemies along the way.

He takes a long drink, then fixes Vex with another intrigued look. ]

But what about you? What sets mesmers apart from other fae?

Ohhh, human but magic human, yeah? I gotcha. Well that sounds like a right kick in the bollocks, there you are able to hop anywhere and along comes Queen Lob and shuts it all down.

[ Because 'lobster fae' and 'evil queen' apparently got combined into 'Queen Lob'. ]

Well, I'm the last of my kind which sets me apart right there. A mesmer has the power to control your body. It doesn't work the same way here in Eudio, since they're all about 'consent' and all that shite. If you give me permission, I show you. I promise, it doesn't hurt. Unless you want it to. [ Wink. ]

[ And, in response to that wink, Jefferson blinks a few times, trying to imagine how it could be fun to give up control of one's body like that. He's spent so many years feeling utterly helpless that he's pretty much certain he couldn't tolerate being unable to even control his own body. In his youth, however, that would've seemed adventurous. But then, he was something of a thrillseeker back then.

Still, it's an intriguing thought. ]

I've never met anyone who could do that. [ Not even Rumplestiltskin, he's sure. ] Do people know, when you use your magic? Or do you control the mind, too?

Not surprised, no one I've met here seems to know about us. We're a rare lot, I suppose.

[ He didn't know why he bothered to say 'us', since he's been the only one in... forever. ]

And that depends on the situation, really. Mesmer doesn't affect your mind, but y'know how your mind can play tricks on you? Make you doubt yourself?

So imagine you're driving along, then suddenly you veer off the road. You'd probably be stunned, right? Wondering what happened? Your first thought wouldn't be 'oh, clearly someone controlled me', yeah? You'd think you made a mistake. You can't feel the power, there's no drain, no sign, no evidence.

Scary, yeah? Not so much in Eudio, it's all very friendly here.

[ He said with the slightest bit of a sneer, but it was followed by a smirk. ]

It's how I feed, so I gotta play nice or I go hungry.

[ He lets out a short laugh. ] Oh, I know all too well. [ Twenty-eight years of solitary confinement, even in a large and beautiful prison, can lead to the mind playing all sorts of tricks on a person. ]

That sounds... Scary. Yeah. To say the least. [ And immeasurably useful, he's sure. At least, in a land where consent isn't the top priority. Not that Jefferson has any complaints about that. ]

Oh. So letting you take control is sort of like giving to a good cause. [ Not that that means much to Jefferson. He never was the charitable sort. But still, he has to ask: ] What would you do if I gave you permission to use your powers? [ He takes a drink, and then adds: ] Hypothetically.

[ Vex drew in a slow breath as his eyes raked over Jefferson - or at least as much of him as he could see with a table blocking some of the best view. ] With you? Oh, darling, I have a list already.

[ He chuckled easily, then his eyebrows bobbed. ] You know what it's great for? Showing people what I like. No guesswork, no fumbling, the exact spots that drive me wild. But if you mean what would I have you do right now? Mm, jack off under the table, probably. I'd love to see your 'O' face in public.

Hypothetically. [ That was added with a devilish look. ]

[ Should he feel like some kind of prey, with Vex looking over him like that? Funny, as he drinks and begins to feel more at ease in the company of another, he's finding he doesn't mind it so much. So he smirks when the fae mentions a list, clearly not opposed to that notion.

And then he widens his eyes briefly before he recovers his wits. ]

Is the 'public' part essential?

[ Nobody else has seen his O face in decades, not even in private. He's got to get used to walking before he can run again! But at least he's amused (and, yeah, intrigued) rather than offended. ]

Maybe one day I'll let you run through that list. You've piqued my curiosity, after all. [ He just needs to get over his fears of having no control, first. Kind of a hurdle. ]

Nah, not essential. I'm flexible. [ And given the look on his face, there was a definite 'in more ways than one' implied there. ]
