[ Ruby has always had a particularly keen memory for faces, which is a useful trait for somebody in the hospitality industry. She's probably noticed him around Storybrooke at some point or other, if nothing else it's not a surprise to her that he recognizes her given the certain degree of notoriety she managed to saddle herself with under the effects of the curse. But... ]

I don't think I even knew your name before today.

[ For such a tiny town, Storybrooke is a big place with a lot of people she'd never met as Red let alone as Ruby. It's not like Emma or Mary Margaret's description of events would have been enough for her to conjure an accurate picture of him as the man she might have glimpsed on occasion. ]

But that Ruby had been terribly naive at best -- self-absorbed would probably be the more accurate term. In the entire 28 years before Emma came along, Ruby wonders if she'd ever had anything worthwhile to say. ]
