Congratulations to you both. [ He means it sincerely, though he's a bit subdued about it by nature. He supposes it makes sense, that people here would find love that would ultimately lead to marriage-- though he's pretty sure that won't ever be in the cards for him again. ] I'd be happy to take the job. How soon do you need the alterations?
[ Subdued is fine with Rafa. He likes Jefferson's work, and he's being something of a perfectionist over this whole thing. ]
Thank you.
The date is set for February Sixteenth. I would need them before that, to make sure the fit is right for everyone. How long do you think you will need?
For simple alterations? No more than a day. I could finish complicated alterations within five to seven. I may have an apprentice now who can lend me a hand, so it shouldn't be too difficult.
[ Wonderland isn't really all it's cracked up to be. ]
Well, I've been attempting a roommate hunt with the help of a mate. But what I've decided in all my searching is that not a single person not from our world would understand the strangeness of home.
same. you'd think the physical intimacy would come more easily around here. at this rate my son will be graduating before they give me what I asked for.
[ Jefferson pauses, the silence perhaps indicating his surprise. He's been in the market for a roommate, himself, though he hasn't exactly made it a priority-- for obvious, 'I'm antisocial and used to living as a recluse' reasons. So this is certainly a serendipitous call, one that could benefit the both of them, and yet he's thrown by it all the same. ]
You're certainly right about that. [ After a short beat, he adds: ] Was it process of elimination, then?
[ Because seriously, WHY WOULD ANYONE CHOOSE TO LIVE WITH THE MAD HATTER? ]
[ No one would understand how he's well over two-hundred years old and still kicking. No one would understand Wonderland or the Enchanted Forest or bloody Neverland. No one would understand any of the insanity. ]
Well, if you consider the only one eliminated was Prince Charming. Technically you're second choice. Would have been first if I had realized he was shacked up already with Emma's husband.
[ the people are fine, the free food is free food - until you overdose on fried cheese and then it's just a mistake.
she's tempted to point out it isn't actually possible for time to stand still, and then Emma remembers who she's talking to. something tells her Jefferson wouldn't appreciate the reminder.]
Speed dating? Whatever happened to getting drunk in a bar and hoping for the best?
[ Hey, look, Jefferson's looking a bit younger. And more disheveled. And Enchanted Forest-y. And he's also incredibly confused. ]
Why would I need a room for hats? [ He tilts his head, because he knows you, but it's taking a moment to remember how and from where. ] Oh! You're Captain Hook! [ Pause. He's getting a place to live with Captain Hook? Have a slow, cautious: ] Are we...?
